Big news coming out of a small country: Liechtenstein government is planning to accept Bitcoin payments for government services.
They will likely immediately exchange the Bitcoin for Swiss Francs. Several other nearby Swiss cities have embraced “Bitcoin as money” concept as well.
This major regulatory step follows on the heels of the 2019 Liechtenstein Blockchain Act, which established clear rules and regs for crypto in the world’s sixth smallest country. They have indeed seen an increase in the registration of new crypto businesses since the LBA was codified.
Gibraltar is another small principality experimenting with everyday use of Bitcoin. In particular, the powerful Elizabeth Stark’s Lightening Network is being utilized for payment services here.
