Elizabeth Stark

Stark is the CEO and cofounder of Lightening Labs. Lightening Labs is creating a Layer2 solution to encourage the functional use of Bitcoin as money through a process known as the Lightening Network.

Stark has an international business degree from Brown, and a degree from Harvard Law. She has taught classes at both Stanford and Yale on peer-to-peer tech, privacy, and open source software.

She is fluent in English, French, German, and Portuguese.

She founded the Harvard Free Culture Group, and she has a long-held devotion for promoting human rights. She is actively involved with Coin Center, an organization dedicated to advocating for public policy issues surrounding crypto and blockchain.

Along with other women involved in crypto, she avoid speaking about the gender divide that exists in the crypto world, fearing that it would only discourage women from getting involved. She expressed this opinion while a guest on a podcast on a day that also included Paris Hilton as a guest.

She was featured on anpther influential podcast with Jack Dorsey where she said, “It’s Bitcoin. You can’t tell people what to do.” In this same podcast she points to the tweet below as a turning point in crypto history.

Funny because it’s true: Twitter locked Musk’s account for a moment after this tweet, thinking he had been hacked. Kinda reactionary and crypto-phobic for late 2018…
