The metaverse is highly controversial and highly speculative. Is this ever going to change? Certainly, Meta (AKA Facebook) hopes it will.

If you need more convincing that there may come a time when the metaverse will be a part of everyday life, the international police have now officially established a presence here. This “branch” of Interpol will presumably address various metaverse crimes such as harassment, assault, data theft, etc. I would love to know how many years it has taken to create this metaverse office to have it up-and-running in October of 2022.

There are many other well known names that already have a presence in the virtual worlds. JP Morgan, Samsung, and Sotheby’s currently all have a storefront in Decentraland. Adidas owns land inside The Sandbox. In March of 2021, an avatar ordered a pizza from the Decentraland Domino’s, which was then delivered to their physical home address! (Quite the poignant homage to the landmark 2010 exchange of 10,000 Bitcoin for two pizzas that occurred on May 22nd, 2010, marking the first ever exchange of a cryptocurrency for real-life goods.)

Shout out to Decrypt and all of their incredibly talented staff. They are by far one of my favorite Web3/crypto-verse informational sites. Sign up to receive their emails!
